P3 Measure
This week we having been measuring using hand spans, cubits, feet and strides.  When we compared our results we discovered that there were different answers.  We now know this is because not everyone’s span, cubit, feet and stride are the same size.

Direction

The children enjoyed programming the Beebots to go to where they wanted them to be using the language - left, right, forward, back.

P4 Area

As an introduction to area we have been using different shaped tiles to cover irregular shapes. First we had to make an estimate then find out the actual answer.

Shape

Recently we have been learning about 2D shapes. P3 were naming them and counting the sides. They also completed shape sequences. P4 were looking for right, blunt and sharp angles as well as lines of symmetry.

We have been completing some data handling graphs on the laptops. We collected information relevant to our topic (favourite kinds of sea creatures) and recorded them in graphs. We then analysed our graphs by writing using Microsoft Word.

The P3's have been learning all about the story of 6. They used numicon pieces to order the story of 6 before using whiteboards to write down other number bonds to 6.
